Honouring
Amanda Asay
An extraordinary athlete, a humble friend and a legacy that continues to support Nelson students.
We were very fortunate to meet Amanda in 2019, when she chose us as her real estate professionals while searching for her first home. Her remarkable accomplishments were matched only by her kindness and humility.
We are honoured to support the Dr. Amanda Asay Memorial Award, helping her legacy continue through an annual award for a local student pursuing post-secondary education.
A lasting legacy
Number 19 will always have a place here.

Her number 19 now has a permanent place at Queen Elizabeth Park—a reminder of an exceptional athlete, coach, teammate and member of our community.
We were very fortunate to meet Amanda in 2019, when she chose us as her real estate professionals while searching for her first home. Every time we met, we seemed to fall into wonderful conversations.
One conversation in particular has always stayed with us. Something hockey-related caught our attention while we were visiting a house, and Amanda asked, “Is there women’s hockey in Nelson?” We told her about the range of abilities, how welcoming and fun the local games were, and passed along the contact information. Amanda simply mentioned that she might like to play.
From there, we began talking about baseball. She asked whether there was adult baseball in Nelson and what opportunities existed for children. She casually mentioned that she might like to coach.
That was Amanda. Her achievements were extraordinary, but she carried them with remarkable humility. What came through most clearly was her kindness, her curiosity and her genuine interest in the people and community around her.
After Amanda’s passing, we were honoured to work with her mum and dad when the time came to sell her home. We chose to donate the commission we earned from the sale in support of her legacy through the Dr. Amanda Asay Memorial Award.
The award supports a School District 8 student pursuing post-secondary education, with preference given to a young woman involved in hockey, ringette, baseball or softball. It feels like a fitting way to honour someone who gave so much while asking for so little recognition in return.
